The Lucky Man Blog

So many people we meet in our lives have little or no hope for the future. The Lucky Man Blog was developed to help these people begin to find hope by share stories from the past of the author. These stories will demonstrate how a set of principles followed for every day life could be so simple that anyone could follow them, and yet so powerful that their practice could help overcome practically any obstacle. These principles include both logical and spiritual qualities that help the follower focus on improving himself first and then his life.

Read on to learn how the author developed these in his own life during times when he had little hope, and his entire future and perhaps even his life was a stake. Join our author as he weaves his way through the trials of his life, and how through the application of these principles, he not only found hope. He found true peace in his life.

The Deliberate Life

As no doubt most of my readers know, I wrote a song this month. And most of you know that this song actually began as a blog post and at the behest of my youngest daughter, I spent several days turning what I now know was a rant against getting older, into actual rhymes, then lyrics. And I'm sure most of you tire of hearing about my new found love for this type of writing. But more about that later.

But, as I sat down this morning to finish writing a post I started several months ago titled The Invisible Man, I saw my original unpublished post here and decided to publish it. Now I'm not posting my original writing here, it changed quite a lot for the original. Even the name has changed.

What began life as this post – The Deliberate Life – is now titled A Simple Life. You'll find you'll find the sound track and the lyrics to my first song effort below. I look forward to your feedback.

A Simple Life

Verse

Lived a while you think I’d know

Life can spin you out of control

Tell yourself its time, just hold on

Then it breaks you and steals your soul

Family hates you and don’t you know

Wish your life was all, lined up in rows

Make life simple go with the flow

Set on my porch swing and go real slow

not the life I want, everyone knows

Chorus

Am I gaining ground

Am I losing pace

Am I really caught up in this rat race

Thankful that my friends, could come to the party

Do you know me now

Did you me know me then

Do you think I'm ready for this life to end

Think my life's like that, think again

Just think again

Verse

Was the simple life in my cards

Like my friends it had to be hard

But life with out risk, has no reward

Once believed if I shared my soul

It would bring my life in control

Share my life like that, good to go

None of this kept me warm at night

Food on the table under my knife

Make my cell phone ring, ready to buy

Chorus

Am I gaining ground

Am I losing pace

Am I really caught up in this rat race

Wanna pray for me? Let's get started

Do you know me now

Did you me know me then

Do you think I'm ready for this life to end

Think life's brought me down, think again

Just think again

Verse

Live this life don't waste a thing

Get what I want, and all I need

Live my life my way, and chase my dreams

Tried this life some time ago

Got beat down by some I know

Thought I should stay stuck, in their little mold

What's inside me they don't know

Don't have a clue what's in my soul

Just how far this man, is willing to go

Chorus

Am I gaining ground

Am I losing pace

Am I really caught up in this rat race

Got advice for me? I may not listen

Do you know me now

Did you me know me then

Do you think I'm ready for this life to end

Think I'll just give in, think again

Just think again

Bridge

Gonna live life on my own terms

Ignore the odds, you'll just have to learn

About the odds that I have overcome

Not a gambler, but I'm good at the game

Earned my seat at the table anyway

Might lose this hand, but I'll win in the end

Been told to live life with less

They don't know what life with less is

Not about to settle, just now keeping score

Made this move to regain my youth

While my friends get long in the tooth

Young man inside me, wants nothing but more

Chorus

Am I gaining ground

Am I losing pace

Am I really caught up in this rat race

The deck will be stacked, in my favor

Do you know me now

Did you me know me then

Do you think I'm ready for this life to end

Think my cards won’t win, think again

Just think again

Verse

Growing tired of the life you know

So called simple life is for show

Never let that stop you from chasing your dreams

Like me you've lived life with less

Don't ever settle, at least not yet

Go after what you want, like the devil don't care

Nothing stop you, one eye on the cup

Those against you can just shut up

Just don’t look down as you climb to the top

Chorus

Am I gaining ground

Am I losing pace

Am I really caught up in this rat race

Wanna life like mine, just sign up for lessons

Do you know me now

Did you me know me then

Do you think I'm ready for this life to end

Think I’m getting older, think again

Just think again
